NKCDC

The Project Team has formed partnerships with three nonprofit organizations (NPOs). These partners will assist the Project Team by facilitating the design charrettes and promoting through public outreach and social media.

nkcdc logoThe mission of New Kensington Community Development Corporation (NKCDC) is to strengthen the physical, social, and economic fabric of the community by being a catalyst for sustainable and resident-driven development, community building, and resident empowerment . Each year the organization serves more than 30,000 low and moderate income families. NKCDC accomplishes its mission through a holistic approach to community economic development, vacant land management, community engagement, and neighborhood planning. The Sustainable 19125/19134 initiative aims to create the greenest zip codes in Philadelphia. This resident-driven initiative was formed to bring together and expand upon sustainability work many residents, businesses, and partners were already doing, and connect their efforts with larger-scale green infrastructure and planning projects in the neighborhood.
